One of Confucius's students asked him, "Master, if there is only one rule to live by what would that rule be?" He answered, "Reciprocity".
Confucius is also well known for this saying, "Do not do unto others what you do not want others to do unto you." And obviously reciprocity is about doing good unto others who have done something good unto you, returning the favors to others.
For example, if a friend has given you a good referral that generated some business for you, you would like to return the goodwill by giving him a referral too or a referral fee or invite him out for a good dinner and present him with a gift of appreciation.
That is why when it comes to Chinese New Year celebration, many entrepreneurs will deliver Chinese New Year hampers, filled with lots of goodies, to show their appreciation of the business that is given to them by their clients, maintaining the goodwill!
If you are a person with integrity, goodwill comes naturally, you will understand how people think and feel and what are their expectations.
God has made it very clear the importance of integrity in the Bible, "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets." - Matthew 7:12
Business and relationship is about integrity and building goodwill. What is goodwill? According to my dictionary's definition, "Kind feelings towards or between people and a willingness to be helpful."
There are various definitions but most people will agree that when there is goodwill you will appreciate the person for being kind and helpful and understanding what is reciprocity.
Again according to my dictionary, "A situation in which two people, groups or countries give each other similar kinds of help or special rights."
Network marketing is about integrity, trust, relationship, value and goodwill. So are you able to generate kind feeling with others and are you willing to be helpful.
I've lived for 59 years and I'm able to have many good friends because I understand what is goodwill. When they need my help or they are selling somethings, I will buy from them to support them if the price is reasonable. I will buy from them even if I do not need them, many times I did it out of goodwill with the intention to give the products away as gifts.
When you are good at creating goodwill, you will have more positive results. When you share your opportunity or products with your friends, even if they are not interested in the business, they will join you as a smart consumer, just to support you and maintain the goodwill.
This wonderful business is very easy to do if you do it the right way. You are offering people a Yes or Yes option! They can choose to be a business builder and build a global business in over 130 countries for $2,000 or less! That is really small change for business people who have started their businesses with $100,000 to $1,000,000 or more!
If they think the business is not for them, they can support you as a smart consumer to enjoy the benefits of the great products at wholesale prices!
Business people are always giving gifts to their business partners, friends and loved ones. If they are not using the products themselves, they could use the products as gifts!
Network marketing is about teamwork and maintaining goodwill between team members is very important. That is why company and leaders will organize holiday trips so that the team members can generate goodwill between themselves when they travel together. Such holiday or incentive trips will foster the bonding of the team and strengthen their relationship.
Master the skill of creating goodwill. It is based on the universal law of cause and effect - what you sow you shall reap - what goes around comes around in your business and your life.
Make creating goodwill a habit and try a little kindness every day. There are many ways for you to be helpful and kind to loved ones, friends and strangers.
