Here are 10 important factors to take note when you are an MLM newbie and not sure where to start and what to do?
1. Follow the step-by-step instruction of your leaders. Don't try to reinvent the wheel. This wonderful industry has been around for over 60 years and its brilliant, proven and effective system works when you work the system.
2. Work on the brilliant, proven and effective system! This system comprised of four important parts, the integrity of the managemnet, exciting, exclusive and patented products. Dynamic and generous compensation plan that attracts leaders, this business is driven by leaders, and effective support system of training, seminars, webinars, special events and conventions.
3. Be crystal clear on the 8 money-making activities: 1. List. 2. Call 3. Present 4. Sponsor 5. Follow Up 6. Follow Through 7. Plug yourself and your team into the effective support system of training, seminars, webinars, special events and conventions, and 8. Leadership - the integrity to do the right thing.

4. Lead by example and judge by result. You must commit to moving up the ranks to show that you are progressing, since you are a newbie, work on the first building block, the first rank and when you achieved it, celebrate! Always try to do better than the previous month, and if it did not happen, don't be too harsh on yourself. do better next month!
5. In my 22 years of network marketing experience, I know there are many ways to promote the business, but what I found most effective for me, is mini-workshops or tea-parties at home and heart-to-heart talk over a cup of coffee at Starbucks! Different strokes for different folks, do what you feel most comfortable and what works for you.
6. Plan daily, weekly and monthly. "People do not plan to fail, they fail to plan." Use the 8 money-making activities as your benchmark, are you doing things that will help you earn more money and move up the ranks? When you are doing the business, always place people first before money. Many newbies or experienced network marketers make this common mistake, they place money first before people.
7. It's important you go through the starter kit and the support material offline and online. You don't know what you don't know. Keep a journal for your thoughts and questions and when you meet your leaders bring out the questions. Clear away the doubts, fears and misconceptions. Clarity is power!
8. Apply the success formula found in the Bible. "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks; the door will be opened." - Matthew 7:7-8 God has given you the wisdom to know that you must ask enough to get what you want, you must do enough to get what you want, the Law of Averages will guarantee your success!
Top sales people will tell you they do not get their sales in the first or second sales call. Usually it happens on the fifth to seventh sales call, this is the cold hard truth you must face. Real estate agents will tell you that they have to show the house they are selling 5 to 10 times before a sale is made.
9. It is not how to? It is always why do?? Whenever you feel down and have your down times, always go back to the compelling purpose for doing the business? Is it financial freedom? To send the children to a good school? To have more money, more time and better health to live your dream? What is your burning desire? Are you willing to do whatever it takes ethically to achieve your dream?
10. Do not be distracted by internet marketing, yes it is a powerful business tool but many newbies are overwhelmed by it!
They will end up joining other internet marketing programs because their sales letters are so mezmerising! But many did not deliver what they promised and that is why the trust level online is very low.
I should know I invested over $10,000 to learn internet marketing and found that many rogue internet marketers practice what they call "Black Hat" internet marketing methods that are deceptive and closely watched by Google and the major media owners, and will terminate their accounts when they have evidence of violations.
For myself, I concentrate my efforts 95% offline, mini-workshops, tea-parties and heart-to-heart presentation and 5% online, social media such as facebook, twitter, youtube, blogging and email marketing.
11. Integrity. This is the most important factor in business and life. Are you doing the right thing? Do you place people first before money? Do you have the best interest of your prospects at heart? "Integrity is the essence of everything." - Buckmister Fuller
There are leaders who have very good marketing and presentations skill but they lack integrity. The signs of leaders lacking integrity is when you see product dumping happening in the market, poaching and switching lines out of greed and a selfish reason!
Product dumping happens when these rogue leaders buy hundreds of boxes of products to help them move up the ranks, and after that, to recover their money, they will sell these products at way below wholesale prices. When this happens, everyone gets hurt and it can literally destroy the business when the market see the company and leaders lacking the integrity to do the right thing.
Many times the company will do their best to stop such degrading activities by rogue leaders but if the compliance department is not able to address the situation, this could lead to destruction of the business.
Being a newbie, it is important you know about the negative side of the business, so you won't join a company where product dumping is rampant and downlines are being betrayed by poaching and switching of lines.
