“God Gave Me The Greatest Teaching In A Very Small Church!”

The Armenian Church in Singapore was built in 1835, it's a very small church and a historical site that is open to the public. I go to this church almost every week to have a quiet time with the Lord. Last year I had my 36-year old King James Bible that was printed in 1901 with me.

I bought this Bible in 1980 when I was a student at the University of Washington in Pullman, Washington, USA. and I got down on my knees and asked God for the greatest teaching.

I told God I was a new Christian and I wanted to know what is the most important teaching, and I asked Him to let me know. I prayed and asked Him to guide me to the page where I can find the most important teaching.

I turned the pages of my Bible and my fingers ended up at this page where I found His great commandment!

Yes God answers prayers!

Matthew 22:36-40 King James Version

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the Law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Another experience I had when I was in Philippines with Brother Ban at a small church about one hour drive from Manila. I love this song "In The Garden" and I asked Brother Ban if they have this song in the hymns book? He told me he was not sure.

I went up to share this song and read part of the Bible, I'm an international speaker and I've spoken to thousands in many cities and there is always a little excitement in me when I got in front of audiences big or small but this time, I was very calm, steady and at peace!

I was very happy the song was in the hymns book and all of them knew this song too. When we sang the song together it was heavenly! It was as if the angels joined in the singing!

When I shared my favorite message in the Bible, my hands were perfectly steady as I held the Bible and I've never felt so calm and peaceful in my life standing in front of an audience!

This is what I shared at this little church.

Matthew 7:7-12 New International Version

7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

9 Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets."

Later after our worship session, Sister Sharon walked up to me and told me that she enjoyed my sharing and that I could be a good Pastor in the future! I felt at that time that it could be God's calling to me to be a Pastor in the future! I pray that God will guide me at His own time and according to His will.

I pray this little sharing will help to bring you closer to God.

All glory to our God. Praise the Lord!

I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
